Police should turn over a new leaf in 2010- DCOP Timbillah

Kumasi, Dec. 31, GNA - Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Patrick Eden Timbillah, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has asked personnel of the Service to be introspective and streamline the way they perform their professional duties.

He said as they entered the New Year, it was important that they ensured attitudinal change to win public confidence and trust. DCOP Timbillah was addressing a monthly routine police parade held at the Police Training Depot at Patase, Kumasi, on Thursday. Four officers and 90 men were on hand at the event meant to promote alertness, physical fitness and discipline. He asked the personnel to display high sense of professionalism to raise the image of the Service.

He said the bad nuts in the Service would be weeded out. DCOP Timbillah warned that the police administration would not allow anyone to turn back the wheel of progress. He called for "institutional re-engineering" and asked the personnel to let their presence be felt in the communities where they operate. They should adopt effective strategies to improve upon service delivery and must avoid taking the law into their own hands. The Regional Commander also underlined the need for them to ensure team work.

DCOP Timbillah praised the personnel for the good job they were doing to rein the miscreants to enable law-abiding citizens to live in peace. He called on the public to see the police as partners and provide them with the needed support.
