THE Sefwi Debiso Police has arrested five footsoldiers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), including the Bia constituency Vice Chairman, one Tawiah, popularly known as ‘Seven Thousand,’ for allegedly stealing insecticide meant for the mass cocoa spraying exercise.

According to The Chronicle sources, the gang, which also includes Foster Boampong, nephew of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Kojo Osei, and the NDC treasurer for the constituency whose name could not be established by The Chronicle, and one Ahmed, Assembly Member for Asiem, allegedly stole 80 boxes of insecticides, and bags of rice, all valued at GH¢32,000.

The District Police Commander, ASP Samuel Annan, who confirmed the story to The Chronicle in a telephone interview, said Ahmed, who he described as the ringleader, was the first to be arrested by the Kumasi Buffalo police for attempting to sell the stolen items to the public.

He then led the police to arrest the rest of his accomplices.
