Police to ensure incidence-free Easter

Accra, April 21, GNA - With just a few hours to the celebration of Easter, the Police Administration, on Thursday, assured the public that it had instituted measures to ensure that the period was incident free, urging Ghanaians to cooperate with the service to guarantee a pleasant celebrations.

The Director-General of police (Operations), Deputy Commissioner John Kudalor, announced this, when briefing the media in Accra, on preparations towards making the Easter period safe. He said as part of measures to ensure that problems associated with the period was mitigated, especially in the Kwahu area, where most people would congregate, a special operations team had been dispatched to the area to beef up security.

DCOP Kudalor said existing highway patrols had been intensified to cover more routes throughout the country and all regional commanders had been charged to directly get involved in the operational activities to augment operations of the highway patrol. In addition, he said the Motor Traffic and Transport Union (MTTU) had already moved into action through the conduct of motor checks and other motor traffic enforcements to ensure law and order on the roads. DCOP Kudalor said the Ghana Police Service had also mapped out other covert operational strategies to respond to the principle of proactive policing.

He appealed to the public to assist and cooperate with the police by reporting incidences to the nearest police station or call the toll free Crime Fighters' hotline 18555.
