Police urged to be neutral with approach of elections

The Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II has advised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. John Kudalor to charge his officers to crack the whip on anyone who makes away with ballot boxes on election day to sustain the peace of the country.

The Asantehene gave this advice when the IGP paid a courtesy call on him. Kwabena Amoateng said the overlord of Asanteman urged the police administration to endeavor to be neutral, as they prepare for the presidential elections. "Remember your oath to work without fear or favor.

We would have to make sacrifices to ensure there is peace,'' Kwabena Amaoteng quoted the Asantehene. He also urged the police to work as a team, and respect the fundamental rights of citizens.

The Asantehene, commended the IGP for his selfless and dedication to his work and admonished him to continue with his good works. On his part, the IGP reiterated his commitment to ensure that the upcoming race comes off peacefully.

IGP Kudalor is on a two-day working visit to the Ashanti region to plan with the Regional command to ensure peaceful elections. He will also use the opportunity to inaugurate the Asaam District Police Command built solely by Mr. Yaw one Marfo of “Yesu Dea” transport fame.
