The ongoing organized Labour demonstration in the Brong Ahafo regional capital Sunyani has been hit with confusion after demonstrating workers refused to allow their leaders present a petition to the regional minister as planned.

According to StarrFMonline.com sources, the police had to resort to the use of tear gas and other mechanisms to ensure calm in the heated atmosphere at the premises of the Brong Ahafo regional coordinating council.

The workers are angry at the decision to select a few leaders to present the petition instead of the crowd.

A teacher, Osei Appiah Acheampong is reported to have sustained minor injuries in the scuffle between the workers, their local leadership and the police.

Members of Organized Labour are on a one-day strike action in protest of what they describe as the worsening economic conditions in the country.

Clad in red and black, the demonstrators converged in vantage points identified by their unions across the country.

This is the first time in many years the various leaders of worker unions in Ghana are embarking on mass action of such nature.

The demonstration has obstructed the operations of the public service across the country.
