The Executive Secretary of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Richard Nii Armah, has charged the government to, as a matter of priority, make the Ghana Police Service very visible in every community to prevent any lynching of suspects.

The late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama was gruesomely killed on Monday May 29, 2017, after some of the Denkyira Obuasi residents claimed they mistook him for an armed robber.

He had a weapon on him, which incensed the residents to lynch him, it has been reported.

Speaking on ATV's Anopa Bosuo show with host Nana Yaw Fianko, Richard Nii Armah bemoaned the fact that lynching of suspects had become a sub-culture in Ghana and urged the government to take drastic steps to save innocent souls.

"The government should employ more youth in the police service to make patrol in the various communities a priority. The police service should also be provided with more patrol cars for urgent reports… this is getting out of hand," he lamented.

Mr Armah also believes government can seize this opportunity to make new legislations which curtail mob violence.
