Political Parties Hold Forum At Sogakope

Sogakope (VR), Sept 2, - The South Tongu District Assembly at the weekend organised a forum for representatives of political parties, chiefs and opinion leaders to adopt strategies to accelerate the development of the district. The forum also discussed preparations towards opening the voters register and holding of unit committee and district assembly elections scheduled for June, next year. Mr Kenneth Dzirasah, first deputy speaker of parliament who is also the MP for the area, congratulated the organisers for planning ahead and said the forum will collate opinions from the political parties and all stakeholders on how to achieve the development goals of the area. He said it is significant that the various political parties which participated in the recent general elections ''are thinking together to promote the welfare of the people.'' The MP said he was happy that the district is not being torn apart on political lines appealed to chiefs and landowners in the district to release land to investors so that job opportunities can be created for the youth.
