Politicians must cede partisan interest- Rt Rev Yaw Frimpong-Manso

Tema, Oct. 5, GNA - The Right Reverend Dr Paul Yaw Frimpong-Manso, General Superintendent of the General Council of Assemblies of God, Ghana has advised Ghanaians, especially politicians, to put the nation's welfare above their parochial interests.

He stressed that nation building thrives on the collective efforts of selfless and dedicated citizenry. Rt Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso gave the advice in a sermon at a special thanks-giving service to climax activities marking the 10th Anniversary of One Hope Ghana, a Christian Organisation, at the Trinity Temple of the Assemblies of God Church at community 11 in Tema. He entreated politicians to avoid character assassination and bickering, adding that politics should not be destructive. The General Superintendent expressed believe that co-operation between politicians, the Church and traditional authorities has the potential to speed up economic growth and prosperity. He reiterated the call on the government to give mission schools back to religious bodies, to help instil Christian discipline and moral values in the youth, in order to rid society of moral decadence. Rt Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso commended One Hope Ghana for its achievements during the past decade, and urged its leadership to do more to help mould the character of the youth so that they would grow into responsible adults.

Rev Sylvanus Elorm, Ghana and West Africa Director of One Hope pledged the organisation's resolve to work in strong collaboration with children and youth workers in the communities, churches, schools and Para-churches to make positive impact in their lives. He commended the First Lady; Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, for actively supporting the programmes and activities of his organisation. Rev Mrs Gladys Frimpong-Manso, Wife of the General Superintendent presented a special award to the First Lady for her dedication and total commitment to the well-being of children. It was received on her behalf by Mrs Philomena Ofoe, Director of Special Ministries of the Child Evangelism Fellowship. Mr Eric Seddy Kutortse, Deacon of the Trinity Assemblies of God Church, in a goodwill message, lauded One Hope for serving as a beacon and rallying point in the planting and growth of the Church. Mr Kutortse urged the leadership of the organisation to step up their activities and should be part of the crusade to instil moral discipline in the society.
