Ranking member of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has asked Professor Kwabena Ahwoi to direct his politicization of Coronavirus advise to former President John Dramani Mahama.

For Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the call for a cessation of the politicisation of the novel coronavirus pandemic directed at Vice President Bawumia, should also be made to former President John Dramani Mahama.

“Veteran politician & (P)NDC elder, Kwamena Ahwoi has called for the politicization of the pandemic to stop. I would be surprised to hear he’d lost John Mahama’s direct number,” Mr Asare Otchere-Darko wrote on social media.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia called out former President John Dramani Mahama over his ( Mahama) recent claims that the current government’s inability to complete some projects he had initiated, has negatively affected Ghana’s Covid-19 fight.

He had also added that the economy was in disarray since the pandemic hit the country, revealing that the economy had not been as strong as the NPP had claimed.

But Dr Mahamudu Bawumia used his interacting with the media after chairing a coronavirus meeting at the Jubilee House yesterday, to urged John Mahama to stop embarrassing himself and consider the data on infrastructure between his administration and that of the NPP.

For him, “We(the NPP) have been able to perform much better on the situation we inherited. In fact the data makes it very clear,” he claimed, adding that John Mahama and his government was unable to handle the power crisis that hit the country by mitigating the hardship it caused like the current administration is doing by providing free water and subsidising electricity for Ghana.

But Prof Ahwoi replied: ““We are in the middle of a crisis. We don’t know how it is going [to] end. Yet, you are comparing it with a crisis that was managed and resolved more than four years ago. Besides, how do you compare a crisis whose cost is calculated in loss of human lives with a crisis whose cost is calculated in loss of material production? And if this does not amount to politicization of the pandemic, what does?”

This comment of Prof Ahwoi got Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko wondering why the advice to cease with politicization on the matter has not been directed to former President John Mahama as well.
