The Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr. Addae Mensah, has issued a warning that using the Teacher Licensure Examination for political purposes could jeopardize the quality of education in Ghana.

Dr. Addae Mensah cautions that eliminating the Teacher Licensure Examination for political reasons may lower the standards of education in Ghana.

He emphasized that the rigorous assessment provided by the exam is essential in ensuring the highest quality of teaching professionals.

He pointed out that Ghanaian teachers are highly sought after in Africa because of the NTC's comprehensive measures, which include the licensure exams.

Dr. Mensah stressed that the exams guarantee that only qualified teachers are employed.

Speaking at the Teachers Prize Symposium in the Ashanti Region on October 3, 2024, he reassured that the NTC's measures are among the best in the world. He emphasized that the requirements for teachers should be as stringent as those for other professions.
