Poor preparations could affect Black Stars in Gabon - Polo

Former Ghanaian international Mohammed Polo says Ghana’s male senior National team [Black Stars] poor preparation could have a negative effect on the team’s performance at this year’s Nations Cup tournament slated for Gabon.

The Black Stars flew to Dubai Tuesday night to pitch camping ahead of the competition which begins February 14.

The Black Stars after hold few days non-residential camping in Accra will only train for 13 days in Dubai before flying to Gabon on January 13 for the African biggest competition.

Coach Avram Grant and his charges are yet to play a single friendly game as a preparatory grounds for the tournament.

Coach Avram Grant and his charges hoping to win the Nations Cup trophy for the first time in 35 years but the former Hearts of Oak legend speaking on Abusua Sports Arena hosted by Kofi Larbi [Governor] , indicated it would be more beneficial if the team had started training earlier to prepare the players adequately for the tournament.

His view is that players of the team most especially the new guys would have enjoyed telepathy with their senior colleagues if Grant had camped them for a longer period. Said the dribbling magician.

”It will have an impact on the team. Although they are professionals, they will need to rehearse on the coach’s formation. They need a trial match to build telepathy among themselves, the dribbling magician”

”Some of the players haven’t been playing regularly at their clubs, others are new to the Black Stars and they will need to know themselves well on the pitch through a friendly”.

Ghana is pitted in Group D alongside Egypt, Uganda and Mali.
