Three months after hosting the 2023 African Games, the Borteyman Sports Complex has been turned into a church venue.

The facility, which was originally built for sporting purposes and is managed by the National Sports Authority, has become the place of worship for some church congregants.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on social media, one of the arenas at the Borteyman Sports Complex has been converted into a church hall, much to the surprise of many.

Checks by GhanaWeb indicate that the venue is being occupied by the Christ Embassy Church, Legon Central Assembly, which uses the facility for their regular church services.

It will be recalled that on June 4, some students of the University of Ghana were bused for a "fun trip," only to arrive at the Borteyman Sports Complex for a church service.

Although the report did not name the said church, it provided further detail that the venue had been the place of worship for the church for a while.

The Borteyman Sports Complex facility includes a 1,000-seater capacity swimming pool, comprising a 10-lane competition swimming pool and an eight-lane warm-up swimming pool.

It also boasts a multipurpose sports hall capable of seating 1,000 spectators for various events, such as basketball, badminton, netball, table tennis, and weightlifting.

Additionally, there is a 500-seater temporary dome for handball, volleyball, judo, karate, taekwondo, fencing, arm-wrestling, and a five-court tennis complex, including a 1,000-seater centre court.
