Porter before court for allegedly assaulting a policeman

Tarkwa, April 24, GNA - A Tarkwa District Court presided over by Mr Osei Kwame Gyamfi has remanded Daniel Asamoah a porter into prison custody for allegedly assaulting a policeman. His plea was not taken and would re-appear on April 29. Police Superintendent Ben Wordui, Prestea District Police Commander told Ghana News Agency that Lance Corporal Sylvanus Nueke, was stabbed on the neck and leg by Asamoah at Bogoso. He said Lance Corporal Nueke in the company of two other policemen and Eunice Cobinah wife of Asamoah had gone to arrest Asamoah on a bench warrant.

Wordui said upon seeing his wife and the policemen, Asamoah tried to stab his wife but Lance Corporal Nueke intervened and was stabbed on the neck and leg. He said Asamoah also inflicted injury on Eunice but was disarmed by the two other policemen and arrested. Supt. Wordui said the injured policeman was rushed to Wassa Akropong Government Hospital and still on admission while Eunice was treated and discharged at Bogoso Health Centre.
