Prampram has only one chief, Nene Djan

Nene Tetteh Djan, Paramount Chief of Prampram, has cautioned people to desist from parading themselves as chiefs of the area as he was the only chief of the area.

Nene Djan indicated that he has been chief for Prampram for the past 21 years and a member of the National House of Chiefs for 14 years now.

He added that there was no record at the House of Chiefs that one Nii Osabu Abbey IV has been gazetted as chief in Prampram.

He gave the caution after the sprinkling of Kpokpoi, (the traditional food) at Prampram during this year's Homowo celebration.

"If you are not a chief, don't call yourself one, if you are able to sell land at Prampram, that does not make you a chief," Nene Djan stressed.

He further said such acts went contrary to provisions in the Chieftaincy Act 759.

He debunked media reports that there was Chieftaincy dispute in the area and therefore cautioned media personnel to cross check their facts before publishing.

On fishing practices depleting the sea of the fish stock, he advised fishermen in Prampram to desist from engaging in illegal fishing activities.

He said activities such as fishing with light, dynamite and other illegal ways were greatly affecting fish catch.

Nene Djan sprinkled Kpokpoi at the Anewe Division amidst musketery, libation making and singing of festival songs.

Anewe forms part of the four divisional houses, the others are Lakple, Kle, and Oluwe Chawenya.
