He dares Police on Hotel Kufuor

The editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior says he has received death threats from some members of the ruling NPP since he declared his intention to march to Hotel Kufuor to take shots of the hotel building.

Mr. Pratt?s visit to the multi billion cedi storey building said to be owned by President Kufuor?s son is scheduled on Wednesday.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr?s announcement followed the detention of a crew from TV Africa for filming the Hotel on Friday.

Mr. Pratt insists the security officers had no business picking up the journalists and he intends to call their bluff and that of the NPP supporters from whom he?s allegedly received death threats.
He said there is the need to demonstrate that there have been no ethical violations and retractions of the law.
?I announced this last Saturday and since then the response has been fantastic. I have been informed that 30 medical officers from different hospitals will also be coming along with their cameras,? he said.
He said he had a call on Sunday from a number of Parliamentarians and at the last count about 25 Members of Parliament are also coming along with their cameras.
?A lot of people have been incited by the threats which have been issued by certain persons in the NPP, that they will physically attack me if I did that. From Saturday, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, NPP MP threatened to kill me if I made the effort to go to ?hotel Kufuor?,? he said.
He said the MP again repeated the threat on Monday morning on a private radio station that he will beat him (Kwesi Pratt) up.
He said the whole idea is in solidarity with TV Africa.
?Nobody should be allowed to intimidate any of us as Ghanaians and as journalists from abandoning our duty to ourselves in the defence of civil liberty and I intend to go to ?Hotel Kufuor at 12 noon on Wednesday with my camera,? he said.
The editor of the Insight said he does not need permission from anyone to take photographs of ?Hotel Kufuor? because in his opinion he is not breaching any security threat.
