Veteran Journalist and Social Commentator, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has slammed President Akufo Addo’s appointment of Ernest Owusu Bempah as Director of Communications at the Ghana Gas Company, describing it as flawed.
According to him, such an appointment should be the job of the sector Minister and Board of Directors of the company.
The National Democratic Party’s (NDP) Communications Director Ernest Owusu Bempah has been appointed as new Director of Communications for the Ghana Gas Company by the Akufo-Addo government.
He takes over from Alfred Ogbamey, who held the position since the inception of the company in 2011. Mr Owusu Bempah’s appointment takes effect immediately.
But Kwesi Pratt insists the President must not have anything to do with such an appointment as that office is manned by a middle level management personnel of a subsidiary of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
“I’m shocked that the appointment letter came from the Flagstaff House. The Ghana Gas Company, is a subsidiary of GNPC, the company has its own Board. Why should the appointment of a middle level personnel done by the President. This is development is frightening, we should be careful of such developments as it creates problems.”
Ghana Gas Company is a state agency that has the mandate to operate the infrastructure required for the gathering, processing, transporting and marketing of natural gas resources in Ghana.
