Pray; Ghana sits on time bomb

Rev. Ben Ampeah-Badu, Effiduse District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost in the New Juaben Municipality has challenged Christians to use the Easter celebration to spread the message of peace and pray to Ghana.

He said considering reports of violence which had characterize the on-going biometric registration exercise across the country, it was a clear indication that Ghana was sitting on a time bomb and needed nothing but peace.

Rev Ampeah-Badu was addressing the Koforidua Zone Easter Convention of the Church of Pentecost at the Jackson’s Park in Koforidua on Saturday.

The man of God said it was unfortunate that Ghana has been plagued by certain vices such as covetousness, politics of insults, back-biting, blackmailing, ethnocentrism and corruption.

He said these “vices were fighting against the growth and development of the nation” and urged Ghanaians especially, Christians to create an environment that would nurture the love for one another and the selflessness needed to uplift the nation.

Rev Samuel Asare, Koforidua District Pastor of the Church, said most people did not recognise the significance of the Easter celebration and hence resorted to merry making and other things that do not glorify God.

He said, Jesus Christ came to this earth to save mankind from their sins such as lies, theft and deceit among other things and urged Christians not to continue to live in sins but rise up from their slumber and look for Jesus.

Rev Asare said Easter is a great period because God exhibited his love once again to mankind.

He expressed concern about the high political tension in the country as the December general election draw closer and called on political parties to make dialogue a major tool to solve problems.

The five day convention which was under the theme, “Look and live” brought together more than 2000 church members of the Zone.**
