Pregnant Dzodze-Penyi SHS student breaks silence on alleged sexual abuse by headmaster

An unidentified final-year student at Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School in the Volta Region has accused headmaster Joshua Vidzro of sexually abusing and impregnating her.

She alleged that the headmaster threatened to kill her after she refused to terminate the pregnancy.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the student, in an audio recording, was heard informing the headmaster of her condition.

Later in an interview with Dzodze FM, she reportedly recounted how she accompanied the headmaster and another woman to take a sick colleague to the hospital.

She said on the return trip, the woman parted ways, leaving her alone with the headmaster.

The headmaster reportedly bought her food and later took her to an apartment he claimed was his, where the alleged assault occurred.

“After eating, I wanted to dispose of the pack, and he directed me to the kitchen. When I came back, he locked the door, threw the keys away, and carried me to the bedroom. All this while I was shouting. He started removing my clothes and forced himself on me. Afterwards, he sent me back to school," she narrated.

After the incident, she said she began to feel unwell and after undergoing medical tests, she was confirmed pregnant.

“I informed him, and he threatened me, saying if I can’t terminate the pregnancy, then he will kill me,” she alleged.

Meanwhile the Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered the headmaster to step aside from his duties with immediate effect while investigations into the matter continue.
