The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed Arafat Sulemana Abdulai as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zongo Development Fund (ZODF). The appointment follows the death of the CEO, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Alhassan on the 16th of August 2019.

Arafat Sulemana is 52 years old, and a specialist in social work and conflict management. Until his appointment, he was the Technical Advisor to the late CEO.

He was Headmaster of Presbyterian Junior High School in Tamale, from 1994-1996. Before joining the ZODF, he worked as an advanced social work practitioner in London for 10 years. He is a member of the British Association of Social Workers and Health and Care Professions Council of the United Kingdom.

The new CEO of the ZODF holds a First-Class Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with Sociology from the University of Ghana and a Master of Arts in Conflict Management and Intercultural Work from the Alice Salomon University of Applied Science, Berlin, Germany. He was also the Nasara Co-ordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), UK Branch.

He speaks, Hausa, Dagbani, Bisa, Twi and English fluently. He also has a basic grasp of Deutsch and French. He is married with five children.
