President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, barely a month-old in office, has kicked-start the process to tap and utilise the skills and talents of Ghanaians across the globe to accelerate government’s development agenda.

To this end, the President has established a Diaspora Liaison Office at the Presidency, with the sole responsibility to scout and develop a database of exceptional Ghanaian talents across the world to advance the “Ghana Project”, a passion of the President to move Ghana into the league of developed nations.

Mr Mustapha Hamid, the President’s Spokesperson and Minister-designate for Information disclosed this to the media in Accra on Wednesday on his return from the 28th Ordinary Session of the Heads of States and Governments of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which President Akufo-Addo attended.

President Akufo-Addo made this known when he met the Ghanaian Community in Ethiopia.

According to Mr Hamid, President Akufo-Addo was emphatic in his assurance that he would establish a nation where one’s political colouration would not matter, but one where the talent, skill, knowledge and experience of every Ghanaian would be fully utilised for the utmost benefit of the nation.

He quoted the President as saying: “It did not matter whether you are NDC or NPP, once you are Ghanaian I am willing to work with you to advance Africa.”

Mr Hamid stated that it was in this light that the President supported the bid of Mr Kwasi Quartey, a Career Diplomat to become the Deputy Chairperson of the AU.

“Mr Quartey was a Deputy Foreign Minister under President John Dramani Mahama and became his Secretary but yet President Akufo-Addo held his hand and campaigned for him among the member nations,”’ he stressed.
