President Ends Visit To Italy

President John Agyekum Kufuor has ended his three-day official visit to Italy and is due back home on Thursday. He is scheduled to leave Rome today to Frankfurt, Germany enroute to Ghana. The President was in Italy, Rome to attend this year's World Food Summit organised by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). He also visited the Vatican City, held talks with Pope John Paul II and toured the Saint Peter's Basilica.

He met with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan who accepted an invitation to visit Ghana in August.

The President also has held private talks with the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission of Africa (ECA) Dr. K.Y. Amoako. Dr. Amoako told newsmen after the talks that they discussed government?s efforts to lay foundations for economic growth and improving living standards.
