President John Agyekum will left Accra on Friday evening for London en route to Malaysia and India on State visits from Monday July 31 to Thursday August 8.

President Kufour would participate in the Sixth Langkawi International Dialogue, which begins on August 1 to 3 in Malaysia. It is aimed at promoting Smart Partnership Practice among governments, business financiers, the workforce, media and other interest groups for accelerating economic growth and maintenance of economic stability.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra said this year’s Dialogue under the theme: “Enhancing Global Security and Prosperity through Smart Partnership” is to share experiences that would help development efforts in the respective participating countries. Ghana joined the Smart Partnership Community in 1997 when it participated in the South Africa International Dialogue hosted by Botwana.

Ghana was also represented at the highest level at the South Africa International Dialogue hosted by Namibia in 1998 as well as the third and fourth Langkawi Dialogues hosted by Malaysia in July 1997 and July 1999. The statement said Ghana’s contribution to the Dialogues afforded opportunities for networking that led to a number of projects being undertaken by Malaysian investors in telecommunications, ports and harbours, estate development and the establishment of the Export Processing Zone Project.

While in India, the President and the Indian government would sign various agreements and protocols and affirm the need to reconvene the Permanent Joint Commission between the two nations.
