President Kufuor Tours Northern Region

President J A Kufuor is visiting the Northern Region for the first time since he was sworn into office as President in January. The three day working visit had earlier been scheduled for Yesterday by road. A large number of people had gathered in their numbers at the Tamale-Kumasi barrier, a distance of about 10 kilometres to welcome him. They were however told after three hours of waiting that the President has had to postpone his trip to Tuesday.

At Tamale,the Presidents first point of call, a large number of people lined up the main streets, to catch a glimpse of him and his entourage that included the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mahama Salifu, the Upper West Regional Minister Sahanun Mogtari and Ms Elizabeth Ohene, Minister of State.

As part of President Kufuor's visit he would address a durbar of chiefs and people at Damongo and Tamale. On Wednesday, he would travel to Yendi, Soboba/Chereponi and Nanumba Districts and on Thursday, he would be at Gushegu/Karaga, West Mamprusi and East Mamprusi Districts and depart to Accra the same day.
