President John Agyekum Kufuor on Sunday joined worshippers at the Holy Spirit Cathedral to celebrate the Papal Mass.

It is the 23rd anniversary celebration of the Pontification of his Holiness Pope John Paul II, Head of the Catholic Church.

The Right Reverend Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, Bishop of Yendi in a sermon said the day also marks Mission Sunday in the Church to remember the work of the early Missionaries.

He said it reminded Christians to reflect on the need to have a common effort to promote missionary work.

The Rt. Rev. Boi-Nai said this called for constant prayers which is an act of faith because without prayers the life of a Christian becomes self-centred and miserable.

The Bishop of Yendi said many problems facing Ghana could not be solved with money alone but by having faith in God through prayers.

" What we need to do is to allow the government to end its term of office otherwise, the country runs the risk of solving its problems in a way that would not be in consonance with the constitution", he added.

The Bishop said " As Christians we should continue to pray for God to help us in all our difficulties.

After the mass, President Kufuor left to begin a four-day official tour of the Western Region.

He is expected to visit the Aboadze Thermal Plant and address a durbar of chiefs and people in the area including Sekondi-Takoradi, Enchi and Wassa Akropong.
