The Heritage newspaper reports today Ghana?s opposition groups are gathering data to call for the resignation or impeachment of President Kufuor and a possible commission of enquiry to probe the party financing scandal that has hit the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP)

?Heritage? intelligence has learnt that the current revelations by the Enquirer newspaper that Castle, the seat of government, has turned into a dungeon of kickbacks, is just a dress rehearsal of what insiders call an official confession of election rigging machine of the governing NPP.

The Enquirer tape was said to have captured an elaborate and illegal machinery allegedly formed by the NPP in prosecuting its elections, especially the last two by-elections held this year.

A national executive member of the party, which the Heritage refuses to name (but myjoyonline.com can confirm is the National Organiser) was heard on the tape lamenting how the opposition NDC was able to counter the use of the illegal method by the ruling party in the Asawase by-election to steal victory.

The officer was heard alluding to how the strategy could not work because of the vigilance of the opposition NDC.

The strategy involves the training of 1500 able-bodied individuals for every constituency to work illegally to steal victory for the ruling party.

The Minority leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin has said to the Heritage that his group will come out with a clear position on the scandal this week.

Mr. Bagbin, according to the Heritage, is expected to ask for an independent enquiry into the scandal which spark off after comments the NPP Chairman, Harona Esseku made at an NPP meeting.

The Enquirer says it has the conversations on tape and the editor, Raymond Archer has promised to release the tape to radio stations at the appropriate time.

The paper?s expose has spooked the Ghanaian public who are anxiously waiting to hear the tape being played on air.
