President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level visit featuring engagements with the British monarchy and government, alongside investment and diaspora-focused activities aimed at strengthening Ghana-UK relations.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the visit includes a royal audience with His Majesty King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

The statement noted that senior officials received the President on arrival in London.

“Lord Katz MBE from the Royal Household, H.E. Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for FCDO, and H.E. Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, were at the airport to welcome him to London,” the statement read.

The Presidency said the visit is intended to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance Ghana’s appeal to investors.

“Building on this welcome, the visit will deepen long-standing bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, position Ghana as a premier investment destination, and actively engage with the Ghanaian diaspora,” it added.

As part of his programme, President Mahama will hold a diaspora town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London.

On investment promotion, the President is scheduled to open the Ghana-UK Investment Summit at Raffles, which aims to attract foreign direct investment and deepen business partnerships.

“On Monday morning, he opens the Ghana-UK Investment Summit at Raffles. Central to the visit, the investment summit is designed to attract foreign direct investment and foster partnerships between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors,” the statement said.

The itinerary also includes a symbolic engagement with global markets at the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the bell to mark the start of trading.

President Mahama is also expected to deliver key policy and development addresses, including at Chatham House and the 12th Africa Debate at the Guildhall in London.

The President is expected to conclude his visit on June 3, 2026.
