President John Dramani Mahama has called for deeper collaboration between government and the private sector to drive Ghana’s economic transformation, stressing that economic stability alone is not enough without jobs, investments, and improved living conditions for citizens.

Addressing business leaders at the 2026 Ghana CEO Summit in Accra on May 28, 2026, President Mahama said Ghana must move beyond discussions about economic recovery and focus on production and sustainable growth.

“We have spent considerable time discussing economic recovery, stability, and national reset. These are necessary foundations, but they are not enough on their own,” he stated.

According to him, economic transformation must be measured by its impact on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

“Stability must underpin production, production must bring jobs, jobs must raise incomes, and higher incomes must restore confidence and dignity among our people,” he said.

President Mahama assured investors and captains of industry that his government remains committed to fiscal discipline and policy consistency following Ghana’s IMF-supported programme.

“Captains of industry and business can therefore rest assured that the kind of stability we enjoy is not a fluke. It will be sustained into the future,” he noted.

The President also raised concerns about bureaucratic bottlenecks within the public sector, saying unclear procedures and delays continue to frustrate businesses and investors.

“A businessperson should not waste productive time shuffling between public offices to obtain routine approvals. A serious investor should not receive conflicting signals from agencies of the same state,” he stressed.

He argued that regulatory reforms remain critical to boosting productivity and attracting long-term investments into the Ghanaian economy.

“Clear procedures, reduced duplication, transparent rules, and faster service delivery all influence a business’s decision to expand operations, hire more staff, and compete more effectively in the export space,” President Mahama added.

Business leaders, policymakers, and industry players gathered at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit under the theme, “Managing Financial Sector Reforms and Industrial Growth: Driving Ghana’s Economic Transformation from Vision to Action.”
