President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama
The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has officially announced that Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is set to undertake a three-day state visit to Ghana from April 1 to 3, 2026.
According to a statement posted on his official X page on March 31, 2026, President Mahama expressed enthusiasm about receiving his Zimbabwean counterpart in Accra, describing the trip as a reflection of the enduring ties between the two countries.
“The 1 to 3 April visit will celebrate the historic bonds between Ghana and Zimbabwe. We are two countries whose destinies have been intertwined since the liberation struggles that shaped modern Africa,” the statement said.
The visit is expected to focus on boosting collaboration in key sectors including trade, tourism, health, sanitation, agriculture, and the fight against corruption tackling unemployment, as both nations seek to build on their longstanding relationship and expand cooperation.
“Welcome to Accra, President Mnangagwa, and let us work to enhance the strategic partnership between our two nations,” he added.
He further highlighted Ghana’s historic role in supporting Zimbabwe’s independence struggle, noting that this shared past continues to influence the relationship between Accra and Harare.
President Mnangagwa’s trip also comes as Ghana remains actively engaged in continental matters through platforms such as the African Union and Economic Community of West African States.
I am looking forward to the upcoming State Visit to Ghana by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe.
