President Mahama to meet NFA heads

After presenting a petition to the Presidency concerning the challenges confronting their outfits, the Presidents of all Federations and Associations under the National Sports Authority (NSA) will finally have a date with the president.

The meeting, which is at the request of President John Dramani Mahama will be held at the seat of government, the Flagstaff House, next Wednesday October 28th.

Top on the list of issues expected to be discussed will be some of the concerns raised by the presidents of all federations and associations at a recently held press conference, where they sort to remind the presidency of some of the promises he made in his state of the nation address as well as calling on the ministry of Youth and Sports to give attention to the least financed sports.

Also, the meeting is expected to discuss issues affecting the passage of the National Sports Bill, one of the banes of the least financed sport as well as other issues that are stagnating the smooth running of the least financed sports in the country.

The president would on the same day grant audience to members of the victorious Black Queens team who won the historic soccer gold at the just ended 11th All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.

This will be in fulfillment of a promise he made to the team after intervening in the payment stand-off between the team and the Ministry of Youth and Sports following the team’s return from the All Africa Games.

Then at the UN General Assembly gathering in New York, President Mahama through the Ministry of Youth and Sports ordered the immediate payment of $5,000 each to the Black Queens players and further promised to meet the team personally on his return from the United States.

Team Ghana returned home with 19 medals in all, two gold, eight silver and nine bronze medals.
