'President Mahama will know no peace' - Old video of Sam George on LGBTQ saga 'haunts' him

An old video of the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has resurfaced online amid renewed debate over the controversial LGBTQI+ bill.

Recently, President John Dramani Mahama, during an interaction with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on March 30, 2026, stated that Ghana continues to face pressing challenges, including access to education, healthcare, jobs, and other basic needs.

He noted that although the bill is important, it should not overshadow the country’s more urgent development priorities.

Following the President’s remarks, some Ghanaians have taken to social media, particularly X, to share old videos of the minister in which he claimed that the President would “know no peace” until he signs the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.

In the resurfaced footage, Sam Nartey George is heard insisting that he would personally ensure that the president has no option but to sign the bill when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) comes into power.

“President Mahama has been clear that he would sign that bill, and he has no option but to sign it. President Mahama will not know peace from Sam George until he signs that bill. He himself has told the clergy that, as a member of the Assemblies of God Church, he would sign that bill,” he said.

Following the video’s circulation online, some netizens have questioned why the minister has remained silent and has not taken action as previously suggested after the NDC assumed power.

While some have strongly criticised Sam George, others have expressed disappointment in the minister.
