A group calling itself “Youth For Mahama” (YFM) on Monday said the upcoming general elections in December was a forgone conclusion as President Mahama will win hands down.

At a press briefing held at the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) municipal Assembly at Elmina, the group declared its support for President John Dramani Mahama and pledged to work assiduously for him to secure the nod.

The yet-to-be inaugurated group’s interim Coordinator, Mr. Michael Nkrumah, who read the press statement on behalf of the group, described the President as “the man of the moment” who has the Ghanaian youth at heart.

The statement said President Mahama was God fearing, humble, selfless, responsible and a dynamic leader who would be accountable to the people of Ghana.

It further said President Mahama was technologically oriented, believes in the positive empowerment of the youth, improvement and expansion of educational infrastructure and a man who was bent on killing the illicit drug trade in Ghana.

It said the group was a patriotic one, which was not solely for partisan politics but with the main objective of securing a win for the President and the National Democratic Congress party whilst it prepares the youth for leadership positions in future.

The statement advised the members against engaging in confrontations and quarrels with other opposing parties, but rather conduct themselves well and convince others to join them, adding that, the President is a calm character who will not endorse violence or chaos.

Mr. Nkrumah called on the youth to contribute their quota to the development of the group, advising them against the use of abusive words in their campaign since President Mahama is not known for such utterances.

Amandzeba Houphet, the interim public relations officer (PRO) said it will ensure that a responsible and dynamic leader, who will be accountable to the Ghanaian citizenry was elected to lead the country.

He said it had strategized and will sell President Mahama to the youth and the electorate at large, for them to see reason and vote for him because he has a vision for the youth and believes in their empowerment.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of KEEA, Mr. Isaac Sam, commended the group for their initiative and advised them to engage in “clean” politics.
