President Mills assures Ghanaians of good education

Zebilla (UER), March 26, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Saturday said government was committed to ensuring that all Ghanaians attain good quality education and opportunities. He said these would help them to unearth their talents for personal enhancement of their lives and a speedy advancement of the economy.

The President was inaugurating educational infrastructure including, a dinning hall, kitchen, three and six unit class room blocks, and a girl's dormitory for the Zebilla Senior High School in the Upper East Region. He said if the human resource of the country is properly developed it would enhance development and move the country's fortunes higher.


President Mills asked the school authorities to maintain the facilities so that they could last long. The President was on the second day of his three-day working visit to the Region to acquaint himself with development projects being executed by government. The Headmistress of the school, Madam Kate Nbun, thanked the government for providing the infrastructure and means of transport. She appealed for staff accommodation to enable tutors stay at the school and the building of a fence wall around the compound to keep encroachers off.

Mr Cletus Avoka, Majority leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Zebilla constituency, said the school started as a model school with few structures but could now boast of good facilities that could accommodate more students. He said the current student population of 1,019 was due to peace in the area that attracted school children from Bawku area, where there was recurring conflict. 26 March 11
