President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to move to the Osu-Castle, the seat of government, with his family next week. This follows the completion of renovation works on his residence and offices as well as that of Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
The Minister for Works and Housing, Kwamena Bartels who disclosed this said the relocation of the President would facilitate prompt response to duty. President Kufuor has been staying at his own residence at the Airport residential area, which sometimes serves as a place for receiving official visitors since he assumed office on January 7.
This follows reports that the Castle was in a deplorable state and unfit for a residence. Mr. Bartels noted that the renovation of the castle is being undertaken in phases as a result of the non-availability of funds to renovate the entire edifice at once.
