President Jerry John Rawlings left Accra on Friday for Japan to participate in an international symposium on Conflict Prevention beginning on Monday June 12.
The President, who will participate in various aspects of the conference, will chair the first session, which has the theme "Conflict Prevention in Africa". He is also expected to take part in a panel discussion on "The Concept of Conflict Prevention".
President Rawlings, who is expected to be joined by the First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, from New York, will have audience with the Empress and Emperor of Japan as well as Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori. He will also meet some key Japanese political figures and members of the business community.
President Rawlings was seen off by Vice-President John Evans Atta Mills, the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Shosuke Ito, Colonel E.K.T. Donkor, Minister of Defence, Mr. Peter Nafuri, the IGP, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Joshua Alabi, and other ministers of state.
