President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday gave the assurance that government would find solutions to the welfare issues of health workers in the coming days.

He said although it is necessary to provide facilities and train health personnel to ensure quality health delivery, tackling their welfare is also essential to provide quality health delivery.

President Mahama gave the assurance when he visited on-going construction of two health facilities in Accra.

The projects include; a 600-bed Teaching Hospital at the campus of the University of Ghana and the phase one of the Ridge Hospital expansion project, both in the capital.

The University of Ghana Teaching hospital project include; a three-floor 300-bed maternity building, training school, a heliport, orthopaedics and surgery department, while the Ridge hospital has a number of wards including more maternity wards and surgery theaters.

President Mahama said government would provide more facilities, training of personnel, accessibility and affordability and called on the workers to put up their best in health delivery while government pursues better working conditions for them.

He said the Legon Teaching Hospital and the Ridge Hospital facilities are not only modern and most advanced facilities in the country, but surpasses the advancement of all others in the West African sub region.

President Mahama said the Ridge hospital is a centre of excellence for West Africa with 21 delivery rooms that would adequately cater for the needs of pregnant women during labour in the capital.

The President called on the managements of both facilities to ensure that the right processes and procedures in health delivery are strictly adhered to in their administration.

Mr Alex Segbefia, Minister of Health said the construction of the projects is a physical demonstration to Ghanaians how the tax payer's money is expended on development projects.

He said with time the falsehood and name-calling of government that is pervading the corridors of the country would be exposed as government is doing everything possible to ameliorate the plight of Ghanaians.
