The President’s New Year Party for Children has been held at Moree in the Central Region.

About 2000 pupils drawn from 22 basic schools including special schools for the deaf attended the function.

Addressing the pupils, the Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection Nana Oye Lithur, expressed the commitment of the Government to ensure that all children, irrespective of their social, economic, religious or academic status, live in an environment of peace and freedom with unending opportunities.

She pledged that the Government would continue to strengthen social interventions such as the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme, Free School Uniforms, NHIS and the LEAP to create opportunities for all Ghanaian children.

She asked the children to reciprocate the Government’s Gesture by being obedient to their parents, teachers and all older persons.
