Bawku (U/E), Sept. 25, GNA - Presidential ballot papers used for the 2004 general elections in the three constituencies of the Bawku municipality have been transferred from Ballot boxes into three separate trunks to make way for the district level elections slated for Tuesday. The Deputy Chairman of Electoral Commission, Mr. David Kangah and four agents each from the three constituencies witnessed the transfer. Other members at the ceremony included the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr. John Bosco Azu, the Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Peter Mawong, Bureau National of Investigations (BNI) Commander, Nenyi Kweku Baidoo and the Bawku Circuit court registrar, Mr. George Alhassan.

The parties included New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Convention People's Party (CPP) and People's National Convention (PNC). Earlier, a demand by NDC representatives that the ballot be counted before the truck were sealed generated a heated debate. However, this was done and the ballot papers were sealed and transferred into the trunk.

Mr Azu said all was set for the district and unit committee elections. He said training had been done for 168 presiding officers and 567 polling assistants to man the 219 polling stations in the 32 electoral areas.
