The Presiding Officer at the Nima Police Station in the Ayawaso East Constituency, Joseph Anim has dispelled claims that security personnel took shots of ballot papers and posted them on social media.

There were speculations on social media about security personnel taking photos of ballot papers and sharing them via social media. Speaking to GHOne TV, the Presiding Officer at the Nima Police Station said that although he cannot speak in entirety, this did not happen at the Ayawaso East constituency.

When asked whether there had been a similar occurrence at his centre, he stated, “Well I cannot justify the truth in that, since it definitely didn’t take place in the Ayawaso East constituency based at Nima." He goes on to say, "As far as I am concerned and as far as the centre is concerned, none of such incidents have happened.”

The National Democratic Congress raised concerns over these allegations and called on the EC to address the issue and ensure transparency during the elections. The Special Voting exercise took place in 14 of the 16 regions in Ghana.

Several journalists, security personnel, and EC officials among others participated in the exercise.
