Press Release By Wa East NDC Constituency Executive

Sat, 24 Jul 2010 Source: --

PRESS RELEASE BY WA EAST NDC CONSTITUENCY EXECUTIVE TO SET THE RECORDS STRAIGT-NEVER ANGRY, BUT PLEASE WITH THE OPEN DOOR POLICYOF WA EAST DCE.

The constituency chairman and his executives are please with the conduct, competence and development oriented nature of the honourable DCE – Mr. Ameen Salifu. We therefore wish to first and foremost thank the president, his Excellency professor John Evans Atta mills for appointing him as the Wa East DCE.

In the first place, Mr. Ameen Salifu denounced his British citizenship to enable him contest the Wa East constituency seat in 2008 on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress. This was at a time the party was in opposition and some people who even gained one thing or another were not willing to sacrifice as much. This was at a time; the NDC had lost the seat in 2004 to the New Patriotic party. This was at a time the party had no resources to effectively support the smooth running of the party in the constituency. So Mr. Ameen Salifu came to express interest to support the party and subsequently contest at a time the fate of the party was indeterminate, in fact, when others did not want to be identified with NDC and could possibly run away from functions or meetings of the party that were to be in public domain.

When the party won power in 2008, even though Hounourable Ameen Salifu lost narrowly to the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament, the president in his wisdom appointed him to serve as the DCE. This singular act of his Excellency the President cannot be described as a mistake since the president considered a number of things including the fact that, the NDC won back the Wa East in the run-off elections on the 28th of December, 2008.

Upon the subsequent confirmation and assumption of office of the DCE, the district has witnessed a number of development programmes including the appointment of some NDC constituency executives into Offices in the Wa East District Assembly. The constituency Organizer was appointed the district NADMO co-coordinator, the youth Organizer of the constituency was appointed youth employment co-coordinator of the district, the deputy constituency Secretary was appointed the district Non-formal Education director, the women Organizer was appointed as a caterer at Bulenga and also assembly woman (Government appointee), the deputy woman Organizer was appointed caterer of Ghana School feeding programme at Yaru and an assembly woman (Government appointee). Some other executives, leading members and foot soldiers who were either supported with a motor bike considered for a tractor or given a project include the constituency Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary(Munawar), treasurer, deputy youth organizer, Abudi Mumuni from Torsa, Saaka Iddris (deputy propaganda Secretary from Polee Alhaj Abudi from Gudayiri, Imoru Musah from Kolikpong, Issahaku Mahama (Jendau) from Manwe, Abu Balefiama from Kunyebin, Mr James B. Dumah from Funsi, Mr Adams Togdia from Funsi, Mr Mohammed Abdul Razak from Goripie, Imoru Mahamuda (Muda) from Ducie, Suglo from Jeyiri and an independent candidate who supported NDC in the run-off elections in 2008- Mr Surajdeen Basuglo (Rasta). It is a clear statement of fact that over 95% of the People who either have appointments, contracts or supplies are not blood relations of the DCE.

It is clear from the foregoing that, the DCE is fair, balance, non – discriminatory and non – bias. In fact if we were to identify the communities and other identities of all the people mentioned above, It would never support the suggestion that the DCE is bias.

We also want to put it on record that, through effective inter – personal relationship of the DCE and officials In the top echelons of government, the district has witnessed an unprecedented rate of development. Electricity is being extended from Sisalla East district to Funsi –the Wa East District Capital. The government under the able leadership of his Excellency President John Evans Atta mills has also provided the district capital with urban water project as well as the massive injection of infrastructural projects in the newly established Senior High School at Funsi.

We the executive of the Wa East Constituency are not oblivious of the fact that not every problem and not every body’s problem can be solved even before the end of the second year of the four years our great party is in government. We are certain that our honest, truthful and God-fearing president would see through these machinations which are intended to label the DCE and hang him. The faceless person who wrote about the anger of the constituency executives at DCE also sought to undermine the cordial relationship between the Honourable DCE and the executives. The person also appears to be manipulated by an “invisible” hand that is not long enough to be seen in public.

We wish to conclude by calling on the public to disregard all such falsehood with the utmost contempt. We also wish to assure the dynamic leadership of the party and his Excellency the president that, the party leadership in the constituency and the region will not sit down for any DCE to take the laws of this country for granted or even trample upon the rights of people. But it must also be emphasized that, every true party member must learn to follow the due process by addressing issues through party structures.

ALHAJ ASSUMAH BRAIMAH ISSAHAQUE MUNAWAR
