Press Statement by the Concerned Youth of Bekwai Held at Bekwai on Monday, April 3, 2017 on the Exoneration of their MP, Rt. Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu
Good Morning ladies and gentlemen from the press.
We thank you very much for attending to our call this morning to let Ghanaians and the entire World hear our stance as Youth from Bekwai constituency and also as followers of Rt. Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu as far as his EXONERATION of the bribery allegation in parliament is concerned.
The news about the bribery allegation on our member of parliament who doubles as the 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu by his colleague MP for Bawku Central, Hon. Mahama Ayariga shocked the entire constituents. This is because, those who have come into contact with Joewise as he is affectionately called, would readily admit that, an allegation of bribery on this noble man was just a fruitless attempt to tarnish his hard won reputation. We were not baffled by the theatrical and fictional story meant by some honourable members of parliament to blackmail their own colleagues, but we were amazed as to how our MP, who has worked closely with us for years will involve in such a cheap act.
It is against this backdrop that, a few weeks back, we the Concerned Youth of Bekwai, protested vehemently and warned Hon. Mahama Ayariga to give evidence to support his allegation or face our wrath.
Today, the exoneration of Rt. Hon. Joewise by the Joe Ghartey Committee on the bribery allegation is not surprising to us because of the confidence and belief we have in our MP. We knew and were convinced from day one that, Rt Hon. Joewise was innocent. This is a man whose academic, professional and political record over the years is without blemish. How then could he have stoop so low for a bribe of Ghc 3,000?
We are therefore by this press conference showing our strong solidarity to Rt Hon. Osei-Owusu today, tomorrow and forever. Our MP is everything to us: he is our hope and the face of Bekwai and Amansie at large. We will continue to remember him in prayers and support him to prosecute his vision of improving the lives of the people of Amansie. Rt. Honourable, "No weapon fashioned against you shall prevail". We urge you to focus on working hard for mother Ghana but be mindful of your steps since there might be a calculated attempt to touch your hard won envious reputation.
Whilst showing solidarity to our MP, Rt. Hon. Joewise, we would like to use this medium to condemn Hon. Mahama Ayariga once more for peddling falsehood against his own colleague. We call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament and Parliament as a body to consider expulsion of Hon. Mahama Ayariga from the House. This we believe, would compensate the Bekwai constituents for the emotional and psychological trauma our
MP, Rt. Hon Joseph Osei-Owusu has gone through.
Corruption is not meant to be shared, if you try sharing just to seek equalization, you will 'technically run from Parliament on Fridays'.
Rt. Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, the Wiseman, "Honesty they say is expensive and cheap people like Hon. Mahama Ayariga cannot afford it".
May the Almighty God continue to bless, guide and give you wisdom to do your best for the people of Amansie and Mother Ghana.
Long Live Rt. Hon Joseph Osei Owusu!
Long Live Amansie!!
Long Live Our Homeland Ghana!!!
