Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid has said President Akufo-Addo’s engagement with the Press set for tomorrow, July 18, 2017 is not for the purpose of “self-aggrandizement”.

“We’ll not come and give ourselves marks as other Presidents have done in the past and say we’ve achieved 90%, 80%. We don’t believe that it is proper for us to set exam questions, answer them and mark them and grade ourselves and so on. So that won’t be the purpose at all,” he said in Press briefing Monday to highlight on the upcoming programme for Tuesday.

President Nana Akufo-Addo is scheduled to meet the press at the presidency on Tuesday, 18 July to brief them about government’s activities for the first half of the first year of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

The President is expected to use the occasion to touch on his achievements and challenges so far and also outline the policies he intends to roll-out to enable his administration to fulfill its promises.

It is his maiden engagement with the media since the ruling party, NPP defeated the John Mahama administration in last year’s elections.

But Mr Hamid said although the President will account for his leadership to the Ghanaian populace six months into his tenure, the motive is not to hype him and his administration.

“The President will make a few remarks and then after that we will open the floor for questions. When I say a few remarks, of course he’ll account to the people what it is that he’s been doing this past six months which he believes if we keep doing it it’ll improve the fortunes of our country and help us to achieve our Development goals.”
