A pressure group, Conscious Cause Movement (CCM) is demanding the withdrawal of Hon. Akua Dansua, Member of Parliament for North Dayi, from constituency’s primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). According to the group, the North Day MP has had three terms in Parliament as their representative with virtually nothing to show for it in terms of human and physical development of the area.
Below if the full text of a press release by CCM.
There are allegations that a sum of GH¢ has been taken from some women in the promise of loans for their businesses but no word has been heard from the authorities yet. We want this allegation to be investigated and the perpetrators brought to book.
The MP, Hon. Sena Dansua visits some of the towns and villages only in elections years.
Misplaced priorities or lack of popular participation. For example, markets the MP built in some of the towns are not being used. This is because either it is not the utmost need or the right location for the project.
The people of Anfoega, Kpando, Vakpo and their suburbs lack portable water especially during the dry season. It is also interesting to note that modern signs of development like radio stations, quality TV reception, banks, internet services are either limited or unavailable in the constituency.
For all these challenges, the people, represented by Conscious Cause Movement are demanding that their MP, Akua Sena Dansua after 16 years at the realm of affairs serving as the representative of the President (DCE) in the constituency from 1992 to 2000, a member of Parliament from 2000 to date, Minister from 2009 to date, has lost touch with the people. Meanwhile, she had a nationwide record of more than 80% endorsement in the 2004 parliamentary election, a clear evidence betrayal of confidence.
We do not have anything against our MP but her failure to represent the people’s plight in Parliament and her inability to market the constituency, attract investors and development to the area, cannot be swept under the carpet.
We are of the opinion that she has overstayed her welcome hence the time to bow out is now! Conscious Cause Movement will have no option but to take result oriented strategies to ensure that we promote anyone else who is ready to meet our development expectations as a people should our MP refuse to heed this honourable call.
We appeal to the delegates of her party that they should not betray the suffering masses of the constituency by receiving juicy favours to maintain the status quo of the underdevelopment.
