Legal Practitioner and Deputy General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene has said that the state will set a bad and dangerous precedent if it prevents the public airing of the latest corruption exposé of the Judiciary by the Tiger Eye Investigative Team.

Obiri Boahene contends that just as similar investigative pieces by the ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas were aired on Television in time past, the corruption scandal uncovered in Ghana’s judiciary must also be broadcast to demonstrate fairness and balance in the system.

There are speculations that the Judicial Council are earnestly making a case for the damning revelations filed by the International investigative journalist to be prevented from public viewing, in view of the consequences that may come with it.

But Nana Obiri Boahene commenting on the development so far on the corruption scandal on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.3 FM has backed calls for the public airing of the exposé, adding that it will be the best way of demonstrating the preparedness of the state in dealing with corruption.

“Why shouldn’t we watch this? So what is the big deal about that? Somebody at the risk of his life has done this investigation; why shouldn’t it be aired?

“Are we prepared to uproot corruption, or we are prepared to accommodate it,” he questioned.

Following the Anas’ exposé, twenty-two judges and magistrates who were cited in the latest corruption scandal have been suspended by the Judicial Council.

The process of determining whether there is a prima facie case against 12 High Court Judges has also been initiated by the Lady Chief Justice, Theodora Georgina Wood.

The decision was taken after the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council examined the video evidence of malfeasance brought against the judges by Anas.
