A Presidential candidate for the NPP, Baafuor Agyei-Bawuah, recently visited Israel for two days in order to pray at the Western Wall (Kotel) - sometimes referred to as the Wailing Wall - for success in his campaign.
Agyei-Bawuah, who is Ghana's ambassador to Japan, explained he heard from previous candidates that praying at the Jewish site helped them win elections, the Le Da'at web site reported.
Barwa asked Kotel Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz to host him, and the rabbi told him, "I am not the spokesman for the Almighty, and I cannot promise anything despite your good will, but I am sure that deep prayer works when it is from the heart and is said in complete faith."
Agyei-Bawuah commented that Ghana was the first African state to appoint an ambassador to Israel. He promised that he will be a friend to Israel if he is elected.
