The Provost of the College of Education at the University of Ghana, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, has urged newly admitted students to prioritise time management in their pursuit of academic excellence.
According to him, university life requires proper time management to ensure success.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony on February 8, 2024, he emphasised the importance of punctuality among students.
“Take time very seriously because everything works with time,” he told GhanaWeb TV.
The Provost also highlighted the university’s progress in increasing female enrollment, noting that this year’s admissions included more female students.
“Out of the 17,773 admissions we had, there are more females, and this is something we have been advocating for. So, we are proud to say that, as a university, we are getting there,” he stated.
On security, he urged students to be cautious of their surroundings and prioritize their safety at all times.
“We have a serene campus, and security is tight here, but every now and then, we have incidents. So, we admonish students to take their security seriously. Look out for each other, avoid walking alone, and stay away from dark places at night,” Prof. Codjoe advised.
Regarding the perennial issue of accommodation, he assured students that steps are being taken to address the problem.
“We don’t have enough beds to accommodate all students, but we are doing our very best. Just last week, we inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee Hall, so some students will get accommodation there. We have also made arrangements with hostels outside campus and accredited them so that some students can stay there,” he added.
