Prison Officers congress ends

Accra, April 18, GNA - The fourth bi-annual Prisons Officers Welfare Association (POWA) congress has ended in Accra.

Delegates in a communiqu? proposed that a technical committee be set up to critically look at the accommodation problem of prison officers in the urban centres.

It said the association is planning to put up housing units to rent out to personnel of the service. The congress, chaired by Mr B. T. Baba, Director of Prisons and National Chairman of the association, reviewed the activities of the association.

The communiqu? said over 795 million cedis was released as housing loans to officers last year.
