A ranking member of the Interior and Defense Committee of Parliament, Major Derick Yaw Oduro (Rtd) has advised security agencies not to take for granted a case involving the four Yemeni nationals who reportedly entered Ghana with fake documents.
Major Derick Oduro(Rtd) is demanding that the issue be probed further to establish the mission of the suspects , claiming that it could be dangerous to let the matter rest without further investigations into the bottom of the issue.
Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, the lawmaker said the security agencies should be apprehensive of the real motives of the four; “whether it’s really true that they wanted to transit in Ghana and go or they have a mission in the country”
According to him, many things come to play in terms of intelligence gathering on the matter which he said ought to be delved into to clear all doubts.
The accused persons are Yemeni nationals who arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on board Ethiopian Airline Flight ET 920 on November 24 with fake documents. The suspects are Esmail Yahya Zeyad aka Evra Allerson, Gaafar Eissa Yahya Amer aka Ciro Carlos, Waleed Ahmed Yahya aka Debuchya Allard, all students and Eissa Yahya Amer a businessman.
Prosecution said, whiles undergoing immigration arrival procedures, Esmail, Gaafar and Waleed were found with fake French passports with different names and also had in addition Yemen passports. The four are standing trial at an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly entering Ghana with fake Emergency Entry Visas and French passports.
