Koku Anyidoho, former Deputy Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filled a second complaint at the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over a fake Facebook account established in his name.
According to a statement of the complaint issued to the Police and sighted by GhanaWeb, the account which has existed and been active for about four years is being used to circulate posts that don’t pertain to him.
"A fake Facebook account is causing me huge problems hence my coming back to this respected police service to lodge a second official complaint," a portion of the complaint read.
Koku Anyidoho, however, expressed optimism that the Police service will do their job in fishing out "the person/s behind this criminal act."
Over a period, there have been a growing number of cases where public figures and government institutions have complained of persons/people using fake social media accounts to impersonate them and perpetuate all sorts of criminal activities.
Meanwhile, the government through the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has cautioned the public to desist from the use of fake social media accounts in duping and impersonating people.
