Ashaiman, May 15, GNA - Religious leaders have been urged to show concern about the background of people who donate huge sums at their fund raising activities.
Mr Alfred Agbesi, MP for Ashaiman who made the call on Saturday said investigations into the source of financial contributions would place them in a right frame of mind of getting "genuine money". He expressed regret that some Churches did not care about the source of those who donated huge sums.
The MP was speaking at the induction of the Right Reverend Cephas Worbie as an Apostle and his wife Dora as a Senior Reverend Minister of the Nissi Miracle Worship Ministry International at Ashaiman. The Reverend Dr Nana Okori Akuffu, President of the Presbyterian Evangelical Fellowship Incorporated-Ghana, performed the induction, which was attended by traditional rulers and their elders and leaders of some Churches.
The MP asked Churches to show love to the needy by channelling some of their collections to cater for the underprivileged members to enable them to live comfortable lives.
He noted that associating with people of questionable character had plunged many people into trouble and called for the re-examination of people they related with.
The MP called for State-Church partenership and advised against discrimination based on ethnicity, religion and political consideration in public affairs, which was becoming rife in the country.
Mr Agbesi also called on the public to change their perception of delaying programmes since time was precious and must be used profitably. Apostle Worbie, who is the Founder/General Overseer, said starting with 40 people in 1998 during morning devotion in his house membership of the Ministry now stood at 500.
