Former Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Prof. Ernest Dumor, is still in possession of a State vehicle that was assigned him to undertake his official duties even though he has long exited the Authority, a 2014 report by the Auditor-General has revealed.
Dr. William Ahadzie, another former head of the NIA is also named in the report as having not returned his official vehicle assigned to him by State.
While Prof. Dumor is still using his Honda Civic (Saloon) with registration number GE 5478 Y, Dr. Ahadzie on the other hand is reported to be still using the Honda Civic with registration number GE 6967 Y.
The two are separated staff from the Authority since 2008 and 2013 respectively.
According to the Auditor-General, there were no records of the Authority that the vehicles were sold to the duo.
Worried about this anomaly, the Auditor-General has advised management of the Authority to either retrieve the two vehicles from the former Executive Secretaries or regularize their possession.
Management was further advised to strengthen their controls to ensure that assets of the NIA in the possession of staff are properly handed over before separation.
Dr. Ahadzie, according to a response from management of the NIA, is yet to respond to letters written to him on the issue while the Board had made an offer to Prof. Dumor to purchase his vehicle.
